In the past, the export of vegetables from Lao PDR to EU countries has been affected by the application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS), causing huge damage to the export of Lao agricultural goods, following the inaccurate issue of a Phytosanitary Certificate-PC which did not comply with international standards, especially the importing specifications and requirements of the EU, damaging the business of exporters from Lao PDR. Therefore, The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has issued a notification on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) for EU countries for the import of certain important vegetable products from Lao PDR, No 0612/DoP, Dated 10 April 2013 in order to ensure that the issuance of a Phytosanitary Certificate-PC for the export of Lao agricultural products to the EU is accurate and complies with EU importing measures.
